Frequently asked questions.

What do I need to bring?

We recommend packing like you would for a day hike. Bring plenty of water, some snacks or a lunch, sunscreen (if you wear it), and shoes appropriate for hiking in. We’ll handle everything else!

Where do we meet our guide?

We typically meet outside of Le Buzz Cafe on Tanque Verde Rd (there are two locations so make sure to route to the correct one!). It is close to the foothills of the mountains and serves as a hub for many hikers, climbers, cyclists, and adventurers of all types.

What time should I book my trip for?

We allow you to choose your start time to best fit your schedule. However, we recommend considering the season/weather, and booking at 10:00AM or later when the temp are low to avoid the coldest part of the morning. Similarly, in the warmest parts of the Summer it is best to get an earlier start.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • No cancellation fee applies for cancellations made 7 or more days in advance.

  • A cancellation fee of 50% applies for cancellations made less than 7 days in advance.

  • No refund will be provided for cancellations made less than 3 days in advance, or in case of no-show.

What if it rains?

We do occasionally get rain and other inclement weather in the desert. We will try our best to get your trip rescheduled, although it isn’t always feasible. Weather cancellations are entitled to a full refund. In case of rain part-way through a trip, a prorated refund will be provided.

Is there a weight limit/fitness requirement?

We do not have an official weight limit, although everyone will need to be able to fit safely in our largest harnesses. Please inquire here for more information.

All of our trips requires some physicality, although we encourage people to push themselves and our activities do not require being an athlete. Rock climbing is the most strenuous, followed closely by canyoneering, with rappelling being our most entry-level activity. No activities require previous experience.

Is there an age limit?

Our minimum age is eight years old.

Should I tip my guide?

It is customary to tip an outdoor guide 10-20% as a gesture to show appreciation if you thought your guide provided outstanding service. Our guide accept, but do not expect, gratuity in the form of cash/Venmo.
